French Soaps

French Soaps

Marseille and the surrounding area of Provence was the birthplace of soap making in 17th century France and from then on, French-milled soaps have earned the reputation as being some of the best in the world. From traditional savon de Marseille to fragranced soaps enriched with shea butter, all of our soaps are made in the south of France by small artisanal savonneries. We offer 24 scented French bath soaps, all with shea butter and of pure palm oil, charming guest soaps from Provence, France, and several specialty French soaps including foaming pumice stones and green cubes of savon de Marseille.

On this page, you'll find descriptions and photos of each of our soap categories , with links to individual product details/pricing.  Click on your choice, or simply scroll down:

Our French-milled, naturally scented bath bars are made from pure palm oils in a small savonnerie, a small soap-making facility outside of Marseille, where producing soap has taken place for 400 years. Each bar is hand cut and pressed.  Each is enriched with 2% shea butter and contains 2% natural fragrance, resulting in a beautifully scented bar that provides a rich, creamy lather. A natural moisturizer, Shea butter contains Vitamins A, E and F, which enrich and rejuvenate the skin. Several of the choices we offer also contain crushed (broyé) flowers or plants that add character and provide light exfoliation.

These 4.5 oz. scented bar soaps are available in fragrance groups of Plants, Flowers or Fruits and are sold individually. Buy 3 or more bars and receive a 10% discount on each.

Perfect for frequent travelers, houseguests, or the powder room, these scented soaps are just the right size when you need a smaller soap but don’t want to compromise on quality. Select from either a traditional bar form or the whimsical cicada shape for your guest or travel soap needs.  The bars are hand cut, made with 100% pure palm oils, and enriched with 2% shea butter and 2% natural fragrance, resulting in a richly scented bar that provides a creamy and nourishing lather. These small bars are sold in packets of 5 different fragrances.

The cicada soaps that we offer fancifully capture this symbol of Provence, but also remind you that this is a year of emergence of the 17-year cicada in the northeastern US.  These luxury soaps are 100% vegetable oil based and are available in sets of 3 bars in any one of 3 summery fragrances.

Here you'll find a selection of southern French special soap products that offer superior cleansing qualities while also caring for and nourishing your skin and senses. Find here a unique fine pumice stone infused with long-lasting scented soap to gently cleanse and exfoliate. We also offer a selection of superior liquid soaps scented with essential oils and traditional Marseille soap, savon de Marseille, which has a base of at least 72% vegetable oil (ours is olive oil based). It is the gold standard of utility soaps across Europe and lasts 3 or 4 times longer than an ordinary soap due to its density.  This is the perfect soap for gardeners and is handy to have at the kitchen or utility sink.  It is highly effective while also moisturizing the skin.
